The Monkey’s Paw
1. If you had three wishes, what would they be? Why? (No wishing for more wishes.) Explain each response.
1. I wish to have enough money to be able to take care of my family for the restof their lives.
I wish for this because I would really like to help out alot of my family members with their financial problems so they couuld live worry free lives. I have always been a person who takes care of others.
2. I wish there was a cure for cancer.
I strongly wish for this because I know what its like to lose someone you love to cancer. Its just so sad that people have to live with a disease that can not be cured.
3. I wish to be an eight time scholar graduate with all A's.
This is something that I have been working really hard to do because i want to have only A's. I am already a two time scholar so I'm slowly working my way up to all eight.
2. Is there anything that you are superstitious about? Explain. (If not, explain why not.)
I am not a very superstitious person. I think that half the stuff is just a bunch of maid up tales to scare people. I have never been a strong believer in any thing that has to do with luck or fate. I think everything happens for a reason.
Also, complete this chart in your Notebook while you read:
Wish: "I wish for two hundered pounds."
Prediction(what will happen next.) : I predict that Mr.White will get his money, but something bad wil come out of it.
Consequence: Mr. White got his money but lost his son to a machinery accident.
Wish: "I wish my son alive again."
Prediction(what will happen next.) : I think the son Herbert will come back, but I have a feeling he won't look the same.
Consequence: Mr. White had know idea wether or not that was his son knocking at their door. This made him too scared to answer the door, but Mrs. White was too anxsious to answer the door and didn't care if she would be teriffed by what she would see.
Wish: Mr. White wished for his son to be gone.
Prediction(what will happen next.) : I think the son will be gone before Mrs. White can answer the door.
Consequence: There son was not at the door anymore and Mrs. White was sad. There son was gone forever because there last wish was for him to be gone again.
